Deb and I sat down to record a podcast discussing our night sleeping over at with Parents for Occupy Wall St. Much like the evening, there isn’t much time spent talking about the parents as dealing with the man in the joie de vivre. I’m hoping we can keep this going in a weekly podcast at the very least. I’m not hoping that it’s recounting ridiculous events like these.
If you don’t have a tumblr, this blog is worth getting one for.

I have to speak briefly in the defense of some of the uncertain press that has come out with relation to Occupy Wall Street. This isn’t a defense saying they are accurate in their portrayals. It’s more of a defense to say that I can understand why they are reporting the way they are, even if you…

I am a 24 years old. I graduated from a state university in December of 2010 with a degree in sociology. I currently work 2 part time jobs at a local community college, one of which I will lose January 1st because of crippling state budget cuts. I’ve been looking for full time employment since I finished school…haven’t even landed an interview. I owe over $34K in student loans, but will ultimately pay back over $60K with interest. In the last few weeks I’ve developed painful lumps in my neck but have no health insurance to see a doctor for it. This year my family was evicted from the house we rented and our cars were repossessed. I now live with my boyfriends family while he’s away at school. My dad slept at a friend’s office for MONTHS. After a year of being unemployed he recently got a job as a door-to-door salesman (he’s 60 years old!). My mom works full time. She makes less than I do. But at least she has health insurance, yet STILL cannot afford the hysterectomy she desperately needs. My sister’s permanent address is her dorm room at school. I WORRY EVERY SINGLE DAY. I cannot support myself, how can I ever hope for a family of my own in the future? I have been working since I was 14. I put myself through college…DO NOT DARE CALL ME LAZY.
WE ARE HARD WORKERS. WE DON’T WANT CHARITY, HANDOUTS OR BAILOUTS. WE WANT OUR GOVERNMENT TO STOP TURNING A BLIND EYE TO IT’S CITIZENS WHO ARE SUFFERING. WE JUST WANT A CHANCE!!!!WE ARE THE 99%….AND WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!
Been playing this as often as possible down at Occupy Wall St.
